Oil Rubbed Bronze  vs. Venetian & Aged Bronze

Oil Rubbed Bronze Finish Process: US10B Oil Rubbed Bronze finished products start out with a Solid Brass base. Solid Brass is Copper plated and then a hand rubbed dark bronze oil finish is applied on top of the copper. Please note that each manufacturer's Oil Rubbed Bronze is unique.

You will receive your US10B Oil Rubbed Bronze hardware with the appearance of dark chocolate to almost black depending on the manufacturer with varying amounts of the copper plate appearing. Oil Rubbed Bronze is a "living finish" which develops it's true character though use. After time the dark bronze finish will start to show wear and evidence of the copper plate will begin to glimmer through, giving your hardware a living antique appearance. The more it is used the better it looks.

Oil Rubbed Bronze is the second best selling finish but if you are expecting every piece of your Oil Rubbed Bronze hardware to maintain the same appearance throughout the life of the product, then this is not the finish for you. It is a "living finish" and is not intended to be a stable finish.

Venetian and Aged Bronze Finish Process: US11P Venetian and Aged Bronze finished products start out with a Solid Brass base. Solid Brass is Copper plated and then a hand rubbed dark bronze finish is brush applied on top of the copper, revealing varying amounts of the copper highlight. Each piece is unique. Unlike the Oil Rubbed Bronze finish, a lacquer coating is then applied to preserve the appearance and to prevent it from the aging characteristic of Oil Rubbed Bronze. If you want the new appearance of Oil Rubbed Bronze, this is the finish for you.
